Why Essence Cosmetics Has My Heart (and My Makeup Bag)
There’s something really satisfying about finding a beauty brand that just gets it. In today’s economy, beauty lovers like myself are just looking for good products that work, feel fun to use, and don’t make you question your budget. That’s exactly how Essence Cosmetics found its way into my everyday routine.
I didn’t discover Essence through a glossy ad or influencer trip. Nah. It was my usual late-night Google search on best beauty products that led me into a deep dive on Reddit that put Essence on my radar, and once I started noticing the brand consistently on sale at CVS Pharmacy, I finally said, “Okay, let’s see what the hype is about.”
Spoiler alert: the hype was justified.
Now while I haven’t tried everything Essence has to offer, I did want to share four products I keep reaching for.
24ever Ink Liner – $3.99
This liner does exactly what the name promises. It stays put. No skipping, no fading halfway through the day (which is one of my beauty pet peeves). It gives me clean, sharp lines without needing multiple passes. I also like that the fine tip allows for me to choose between a barely there line or an Amy Winehouse (R.I.P.) winged moment.
Sun Club Matt Bronzing Powder Palette – $9.99
This palette is such an underrated gem. The tones are warm without going orange for us Black and Brown Beauties. I appreciate it being easy to blend and that you can create your own custom shade with the four options.
Lash Princess False Lash Mascara – $4.99
Let’s be clear: this mascara has me in a chokehold. Every time I use it, people always comment on how bright and beautiful my eyes are because this mascara makes them POP! I want to try more mascaras from Essence, but this one keeps pulling me right back in. When something works this well at this price point, it’s kinda hard to stray.
The Blush (discontinued, unfortunately)
I’ve used up my backup of this blush last year, and yes, I’m still a little sad about it. But I’m hopeful. After reading reviews, I’ve got my eye on the Soft Touch Bouncy Blush ($5.99), and from what I’m seeing, it might be a worthy successor. If it gives that soft, natural flush Essence is known for, then count me in.
What I love most about Essence is how it makes experimenting with make-up fun again instead of stressful. And shopping affordably doesn’t mean you should have to sacrifice quality either. It’s products like these that bring the joy back to getting ready, and that matters more than we think.
