My Take on the Black Women in Luxury Movement Featuring Coach Outlet

What is luxury to you? Weekly manicures? A daily nighttime routine? Designer handbags and exotic trips around the globe? If you answered yes to any (or all) of those things, happy to hear it! But if not, that’s okay as well. Luxury can also be eating healthy, working out three times a week or reading at least one book a month.

In this age where social media perpetuates the need to keep up with the Joneses, I often have to remind myself to be inspired but not necessarily copy the lives of others. My blog, The Blogger Next Dior, is all about loving my life and living my style and inspiring others to do so as well. Not once since #blackwomeninluxury began trending did I feel less than because I’m not buying Bottega shoes or taking trips to Tulum. I’ve been enjoying my life of luxury on my terms for quite sometime now. From refusing to do certain household chores (future blog post in the making) to re-designing each room in my home to fit my personal aesthetic.

But let me keep it real for a second. Some of those designer pieces are dope AF! But instead of stretching my teacher salary past its limits, I prefer to dabble into less expensive, but still high quality items. That’s where Coach and Coach Outlet enter the picture. My love for Coach began about 25 years ago when as a young child I would admire my mother’s handbag collection. I actually inherited a few of those items since her passing away in 2007. I don’t wear them often for sentimental reasons but each time I do I’m reminded that no matter what the world may try to tell me I, as a Black woman, deserve to have nice things and a beautiful life.

Enough back story. Let’s get into these luxe finds from Coach Outlet and the inspiration behind them!

When Ye (formerly known as Kayne West) first hit the scene his style was like no other. And while his look has evolved over the years, it will always be The College Dropout/Late Registration period that will forever have my heart. His preppy styling of Polos, backpacks and Louis Vuitton accessories was a breath of fresh air during a time of throwback jerseys and over-sized white tees. It was because of that era of hip-hop that I’ve always wanted a bookbag to commemorate my love of West's first two albums.

Yep. It’s that deep y’all lol.

Both LV’s Montsouris PM and the Palm Springs PM styles come to mind but both were missing that “it” factor. However, when I saw the Coach x Peanuts Court Backpack in Signature Canvas with Varsity Patches, I knew I had to have it in my collection. The cream pockets mixed with Coach’s signature print is the perfect contrast. Snoopy and Woodstock adds a touch of nostalgia that makes this casual backpack a bit more eclectic, a style that has taken over both my home and my closet.

I see this backpack being my go-to work bag or my “mom bag” when Ava and I are out and about on the weekends. #TeacherLife and Mommy duties are the times where I need a bag that can hold all my essentials without being a burden to carry around.

Days that I’m making a quick grocery or thrift store run, I need something a bit more compact. Years ago I owned two small quilted handbags from Forever21 and the most they could fit were a few cards, a lip gloss and some gum. Being that the purses were fast fashion, it’s only natural they survived only a few seasons.

A few weeks after purchasing the Coach x Peanuts Court Backpack, I was back on the site seeing what else would catch my eye. I spotted the Mini Wallet on a Chain in Signature Canvas and I thought this was the perfect upgrade from the Forever21 version. I added it to my cart but didn’t proceed to checkout immediately. But then when I watched HighLowLuxxe’s New York Fashion Week Vlog and saw how chic the Fendi Mini Baguette was styled with her look, I completed my purchased online at Coach Outlet without hesitation.

Now I know someone will say that the Coach Outlet Mini Wallet doesn’t stand in the same room as the Fendi Mini Baguette. But let’s not forget the purpose of this blog post. It’s about being inspired without necessarily copying the moves and purchases of others. Luxury is subjective and once again, Coach Outlet allows for me to achieve a high end yet affordable look.

If you’re not following my girl Janée Barbee’s Instagram or YouTube, I need you to do so now. Based in Atlanta, GA by way of Jacksonville, FL, Janee is the Aesthetics Princess. In all of her videos she discusses how one can partake in the luxury movement by purchasing smaller essential items like Chanel blotting papers or a Brandon Blackwood key pouch.

So naturally when I laid eyes on Coach Outlet’s Weekly Pillbox in Signature Canvas, I thought this was both fancy and practical. Currently my daily vitamin regimen consists of Vitamin D3, Magnesium and B12 and this pill case makes this important habit that much more luxurious. In the extra tablet slot I like to keep a few ibuprofen and an antacid for emergencies.

Now for the pièce de résistance, my Coach Outlet Georgie Gem Crossbody in the color black. I am forever a lover of uniquely shaped handbags so when I saw my favorite luxury YouTuber, Geranika Mycia, showcase her MCM Rockstar Vanity Case I knew I needed something similar in my collection.

The Georgie Gem Crossbody gives a similar, but softer silhouette with the most beautiful of gold hardware. Like the MCM Vanity Case, the Georgie Gem can be worn crossbody with use of the detachable strap or as a top handle handbag (my preferred styling).

Moral of the story?

Love YOUR life and live YOUR style. Oh yeah, and don’t sleep on Coach Outlet.
